For many years, I have immersed myself in various photographic disciplines, capturing the beauty of landscapes, and living beings. From the vibrant streets and captivating scenes of street photography to the intimate connections portrayed in portraits, my lens explores the diverse facets of visual storytelling.
In recent times, my focus has been on capturing the breathtaking beauty of Colorado. From majestic mountain ranges and alpine lakes to dry deserts and high dunes, my photos aim to showcase Colorado in all its magnificence. I have hiked thousands of miles in Colorado and beyond, both on and off-trail, reaching the most remote, beautiful, and rugged regions of the state. To access these areas, I travel light, ensuring all my gear is dialed in for any situation or difficulty.
With extensive experience in alpine travel and wilderness navigation, I explore the diverse environments that Colorado offers. While I thoroughly enjoy exploring the wilderness with my family and friends, my preference is to travel solo, seeking solitude and experiencing nature in its purest form.
Biography
Born near Basel, Switzerland, Patrick Lienin is a photographer and ecologist who spent his formative years in Germany before relocating to the United States in 2012. He pursued his education in Environmental Sciences, embarking on a journey that culminated in a PhD and academic career in Plant Science.
Throughout the years, Patrick's passion for photography has flourished, evolving into a professional pursuit as a photographer. Engaging in both personal and professional projects, he operates as an independent artist, capturing a myriad of moments through his lens – from intimate personal experiences to professionally commissioned work. Patrick Lienin's photographic style seamlessly blends his ecological background with his artistic vision, resulting in compelling visual narratives that celebrate the grandeur of life, mountains and true wilderness.

With a rich and extensive background spanning two decades, I bring a wealth of experience to photography, including significant expertise in shooting and processing raw images, professional data management, and editing. Similarly, I boast over many years of accomplished experience in Plant Science and Environmental Research, as well as a deep proficiency in alpine travel, ultralight backpacking, and wilderness navigation.
In addition to my professional pursuits, my commitment to environmental causes is evident in my volunteer work. I actively contribute as a Wilderness Ranger with IPWA and ESWA, lead the Research Grant Committee for IPWA, and embrace the spirit of a Wilderness Wanderer.
