Exploring the Buffalo Mountain Loop nestled within the Eagles Nest Wilderness near Silverthorne, I set out from Meadow Creek Trailhead, where the rushing waters of Meadow Creek, fueled by abundant snowmelt, painted a picturesque scene. Ascending over Eccles Pass, I entered the tranquil Upper Willow Creek Basin, draped in a serene blanket of snow.
Navigating through the pristine landscape, I reached Red Buffalo Pass, where I found respite at a secluded campsite sheltered by trees amidst the windswept terrain. As the sun dipped below the horizon, I witnessed a breathtaking sunset, casting its warm glow over the rugged wilderness. With the break of dawn, I retraced my steps along the Gore Range Trail, passing by Lilly Pad Lake, a popular yet overcrowded spot, before concluding my journey at the trailhead.
