Continental Divide | James Peak Wilderness
September 2021
Setting out from East Portal, I started a solo journey through the enchanting landscapes of the James Peak Wilderness. The route promised adventure and discovery, leading me along Crater Lakes, Arapahoe Lakes, The Continental Divide, Iceberg Lakes, and Heart Lake. As the trail ascended towards Crater Lakes, the scenery transformed dramatically. Towering peaks loomed overhead, their rugged slopes contrasting with the serene waters below. The air was crisp, filled with the scent of autumn and a hint of melancholy. Continuing onward to Arapahoe Lakes, I ventured off-trail through rocky terrain and alpine meadows, the wildflowers having faded with the changing seasons.
