Mitchell Lake in Winter | Indian Peaks Wilderness
December 2016
Nestled in the majestic Rocky Mountains, Colorado's Indian Peaks Wilderness spans over 76,000 acres of pristine alpine terrain, boasting rugged peaks, vast meadows, crystal-clear lakes, and dense forests. In winter, the landscape transforms into a serene haven, perfect for those seeking solitude. Setting out from the winter trailhead on a crisp day, I embarked on an exhilarating journey to Mitchell Lake. Upon reaching the frozen lake, nestled beneath the towering peaks of the Continental Divide, I set up camp amidst the shelter of the trees. Despite the ferocious winds and blowing snow, I felt a deep sense of peace and connection to the natural world around me. As the sun rose on a new day, I ventured out to explore the frozen landscape, discovering pristine snowscapes and marveling at the breathtaking views that surrounded me.
